Sports fans have been an important part of the explosive success both collegiate and professional athletics has enjoyed. In 2013 a recognition award show was created to honor fans and their contribution to the sports industry it's called the What A Fan Awards. Its been held in Orlando Florida but will be relocated to Los Angeles California in 2016. Over the coming weeks we're going to introduce you to some of the countries most devoted fans of all genres of sports in their own words.
How long have you been a fan?
Forty (40) years.
What triggered your passion for sports?
Playing baseball as a little kid.
Favorite sports moment?
Davide Freese Walk-off Home Run in Game 6 of the 2011 World Series
Who would you like to meet?
Living: Albert Pujols (met most of them, Ozzie Smith, Lou Brock, Dave Freese) Dead: Ty Cobb or Stan Musial
What charitable programs are you involved with?
Make a Wish, Little Patriots Embraced, Smiles For Seth and a long list of others. It is what I do with the Cardinal Cowboy
How was your character created?
I had stolen the original Red Cardinal Cowboy Hat from my dad and then added the jersey and pants when I decided there was no reason I could not wear what I was going to be to the game before my accident and coma caused by a drunk driver.
Tell us something humorous about you.
My buddies thought this was all a joke but by now I have been on ESPN, MLB, all local news and radio and asked to appear on Jimmy Kimmel. Who is laughing now?
What would winning the What A Fan Award mean to you?
It would further prove that if you do right to inspire and encourage people that good things happen.
