Jon Paul Peters, What A Fan Awards Nominee

Meet Jon Paul Peters aka "The Big Nut," 2015 What A Fan Awards NCAA Fan of the Year Nominee. This Ohio State fanatic is a legendary fan at the University. His fandom is historic, he's been around for most of the accomplishments Ohio has had and suffered through the tough times. He's so popular opposing fans seek him out to take picture.

Sports fans have been an important part of the explosive success both collegiate and professional athletics has enjoyed. In 2013 a recognition award show was created to honor fans and their contribution to the sports industry it's called the What A Fan Awards. Its been held in Orlando Florida but will be relocated to Los Angeles California in 2016. Over the coming weeks we're going to introduce you to some of the countries most devoted fans of all genres of sports  in their own words.

What's your favorite sport or team?

Ohio State Buckeyes.

How long have you been a fan?

My whole life.

What triggered your passion for sports?

Thrill of competition. 

Favorite sports moment?

The Ohio State Buckeyes winning a National Title in 2002, and in 2014.

Who would you like to meet and why?

Woody Hayes and to hear his stories of his players.

What charitable programs are you involved with?

The Big Nut Scholarship Foundation a 501c3 that me and Mrs. Big Nut started!! 8 Scholarships for $500.00 each for a total of $4,000.00--and overall 21 Scholarships for a total of $10,500 dollars since it started!!! We are involved also in other events( Buckeye for Life organ donation, Cancer events, March of Dimes) etc..  

How does your family feel about your passion for sports?

They respect how I feel.

How was your character created?

Scarlet and Gray, wearing the colors of the team that I love!! 

Tell us a humerus story about you or your team.

Standing in the first row at the Navy game, standing in the middle of the midshipmen getting rowdy in a fun way--until their senior leader asked me to leave!! The photo was in Sports Illustrated!!!

What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?

It would mean everything to me to be honored, by this great organization, and to uphold myself in a manner of GOOD Sportsmanship and be a positive reflection of these AWESOME fans!!
