Meet Joshua Bay and the Tornado Alley Seahawkers, 2015 What A Fan Awards Tailgate Club/Group of the Year Nominee. This was the last Club selected for this years Award but the group is filled with passionate sports fans in Oklahoma. There are thousands of clubs like these around the world and they're equally as passionate about their teams as the fans that attend games. They deserve the same recognition for the devoted dedication and the important roll they play in sports.
Sports fans have been an important part of the explosive success both
collegiate and professional athletics has enjoyed. In 2013 a recognition
award show was created to honor fans and their contribution to the
sports industry it's called the What A Fan Awards. Its been held in
Orlando Florida but will be relocated to Los Angeles California in 2016.
Over the coming weeks we're going to introduce you to some of the
countries most devoted fans of all genres of sports in their own words.
How long have you been a fan?
Twenty nine (29) years.
Why should you be selected winner in this category?
This year I started an official Seattle Seahawkers booster club in
Oklahoma.. We are called Tornado Alley Seahawkers. We are up to 95 members
in our first 6 months..we have raised nearly 1500 $ for our charity OU
children's hospital in Oklahoma City.. We also are organizing a Relay
for Life with the American Cancer society. Being held July 25th in
Blanchard Oklahoma... I feel like for our first year we have made quite
an impact for a bunch of strangers that came together in the name of the
Seahawks... Also I feel like if we got this nomination it will give US a
good boost to our numbers and the recognition my members deserve for
all the hard work we've put into this group... We have group tickets to
St Louis in Sept. And Dallas in November... We will be representing our
group and fundraising while rooting for the Hawks... Our group is
dedicated and worthy to be nominated for this honor.. Thank you.
What triggered your passion for sports?
My uncle taking me to the old kingdoms and playing at recess.
Favorite sports moment?
Super Bowl 48 ..finally took the Lombardi to Seattle!
Who would you like to meet and why?
Steve Largent.. Always been my hero and role model..I wanted to be him so bad when I was a kid.
What charitable programs are you involved with?
Relay for Life , American Cancer Society currently... Also our group is a registered non profit in Oklahoma.
How does your family feel about your passion for sports?
They are All In! We have a lot of great family memories involving the Seahawks..we all have jerseys and we all are passionate.
How was your character created?
OKCHawk was given to me from a president of another Seahawkers booster
club.. Now my jerseys patches desk plaque etc read OKCHawk..as far as Tornado Alley Seahawkers it was created due to our groups region of the
country.
How important is it to you to have an Award Show for fans?
Its real important.. If it wasn't for fans there wouldn't be such huge
markets or maybe no sports at all.. Fans deserve the most
recognition...
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
To Tornado Alley it would be huge.. To be recognized for the passion and
time and pride we put into the group and our team would be a huge boost
to all of our members confidence in what we are doing and to help grow
so we can continue making a difference. Go Hawks!

Absolutely.. no one/club I know that actually bleeds SEAHAWKS more than Tornado Alley Seahawkers and Joshua Bay.. true story- I've seen it!
ReplyDeleteHe's the ultimate fan !!!
ReplyDeleteSo excited tornado alley getting nominated! we have really met some amazing people through this journey to have a booster club with the Seahawkers! I've never met more dedicated people, with so much love for a team! Everyone has helped so much in many ways! Can't wait for the season, GO HAWKS!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to be a member of TASH! True 12s that truly love the Seahawks and are all more than dedicated to supporting each other and the different charity functions. It's a new group that has grown steady over the last 9 months that I have been with it. 12s are everywhere! I'm excited to see What's Next. Especially having such a die hard fan as our leader Josh, who generally cares about all the 12s in the group and the Seahawks. Talk about no time to sleep...that's Josh!
ReplyDeleteI'm In!
Being a Seattle native in oklahoma I was really homesick every football season. TASH has become my family away from family! I'm so happy I found them...or actually they found me! Now I can give my daughter the happy memories going to games, gatherings with friends
ReplyDeleteAs a military family, TASH welcomed us with open arms. Even my wife (who is a fan of another team) enjoys heading to the meetings and enjoys reading the posts on the facebook. I look forward to the 3 hour drive every month that I can make a meeting as it means I will be with good friends. Cant wait to tailgate with them next month!!!!
ReplyDeleteJosh has done more for the Seahawks fan community than what he has listed in this article. He started and runs a large Facebook group for Seahawks fans from all over the world, including our deployed service members abroad. He personally sent me a package for my daughter that is due in 2 weeks with baby clothing, Seahawks baby clothing of course! I can't think of anyone I know that deserves this award more and we have not even met in person yet. We met in his 'Hawk Fans' group in Facebook. With him in Oklahoma and me in Seattle, some day soon we will get to hang out when he comes up here for a game in Seattle. Good luck winning this award Josh!

ReplyDeleteJoshua Bay and TASH deserve this because it takes a certain something to take it upon yourself and start something that's bigger than just self benefit. He's shown me and everyone else around him that its not just about football, but a way to build great relationships with people that you my not have had the chance to otherwise! TASH shows that SEAHAWK love and that southern compassion and willingness to help others! Josh really does show what it means to passionate about your athletic team !! Thank you Joshua Bay for being such a good friend and role model to fans and clubs everywhere!

ReplyDeleteJosh and his club do so much for fans that aren't able to see the team play in Seattle. He organizes tailgates a d viewing parties and even stepped up to buy a replacement when a fellow fan's daughter had her jersey stolen. I was thrilled to be able to have him join us in Seattle. Class act all the way that makes life ether for fans around the world.
ReplyDeleteOKC Hawk is a fanatic in every sense of the word. A truly special fan living far away from the emerald city he has all the characteristics of a 12. He runs fund raisers to help other in the name of football and most importantly he projects our fan base in a positive light to the public. Go get 'em OKC HAWK
ReplyDeletePosting for Marsha McGoveran who was having technical difficulties:
ReplyDeleteI don't know of anyone more deserving than Joshua Bay. He bleeds SEAHAWKS and I am very proud to be a member of the Tornado Alley Seahawkers group!
The first time I met Josh one of the first things he said to me was that he was a fan of the SEAHAWKS. His passion and love for this organization is evident in all areas of his life. He loves to give back to his community by organizing a 5K benefiting the American Cancer Society. He is the real deal and so very deserving of his award.
ReplyDeleteI am beyond amazed with Joshua's spirit and his drive in running his Sea Hawkers chapter. I am very involved with other Sea Hawkers chapters, but Joshua's TASH passion and stamina takes the lead by far. He has developed friendships from all over the states through his dedication of supporting the Seahawks team as well as his ambition to raise money for charities. There is always the most updated news on his chapter site and great topic conversations that are initiated by him. You would never know that he lived so far away from Seattle with the constant enthusiasm and diligence he shows in making his chapter one of the most committed and loyal ones out there to support the Seahawks team. I do not foresee his endurance ever coming to an end with TASH with his persistence. He really makes you feel proud to be a part of his chapter. Thanks Joshua!
ReplyDeleteHey all! Loved back to OKC last year from Denver. Where is the watch party?
