Say hello to Gianni "Little Birdman" Zandri, 2015 What A Fan Awards Amazing Kids Fan of the Year Nominee. We've seen this young man all over the place, games, tv, publications and his popularity is pretty cool. He's turned his passion for the Miami Heats Birdman into a awesome super fan character.
Sports fans have been an important part of the explosive success both
collegiate and professional athletics has enjoyed. In 2013 a recognition
award show was created to honor fans and their contribution to the
sports industry it's called the What A Fan Awards. Its been held in
Orlando Florida but will be relocated to Los Angeles California in 2016.
Over the coming weeks we're going to introduce you to some of the
countries most devoted fans of all genres of sports in their own words.
How long have you been a fan?
My whole life - been going to games since i was 5.
Why should you be selected winner in this category?
I love my teams, no matter what! Even if they are having a bad game or a
bad season, i still cheer them on! I love to go to the games and cheer
the players on and I know they appreciate it! I actually mixed my two
favorite teams when I took Jonathan Huberdeau and Nick Bjugstad from the
Florida Panthers to a Miami Heat game.
What triggered your passion for sports?
I have just always gone to games with my Dad and enjoy making memories with my Dad.
Facorite sports moment?
When the NBA Heat won the Championship and they let me hole the Larry Obrien Championship Trophy!
Who would you like to meet and why?
Sidney Crosby. I met everyone on the Pittsburgh Penguins and they all
signed a pro goalie mask for me but they took Sidney out another way
with security! I think he's hard to meet! He is an amazing player and
seems like a really nice guy.
What charitable programs are you involved with?
I volunteer with youth groups and have helped the Boys and Girls club of
Florida. Also Feeding South Florida which gets meals to kids that don't
have them!
How does your family feel about your passion for sports.
My family loves my passion for sports and they share it with me.
Tell us why you love your team or player?
In hockey, i love the Florida Panthers! It's hard for me to pick a
favorite player so i will pick 2. Joanthan Huberdeau and Nick Bjugstad.
(Sorry Aaron Ekblad) I have been very lucky and got to know both Jonny
and Nick over the last few years. I usually wait after the games to tell
them they played well (even in a loss) and talk to them for a minute.
Sometimes , when they are on the road playing, I write Jonathan
Huberdeau private messages on Instagram about the game. He is so nice
and always writes back - i think on the bus on teh way to the plane! My
Dad knows i can't decide who is my favorite so he got me a jersey that
said "Huberstad" on the back - that is a mix of both of their names! I
even went to a Miami Heat game with them one night against the Bulls and
we all had a blast. They are really down to earth guys and very nice. I
met their families too - usually when they come to visit from Quebec or
Minnesota over the holidays. They are both young guys and work hard. N
ick graduate from college early but still went back and finished school
even after he was a pro. Nick came to our seats during my birthday party
and met all my friends. He also went and met with all the kids from the
boys and girls club. (we gave them 20 seats that night) he spoke to
them and signed autographs which was so cool. Nick is such a nice guy,
next year he got a box with 20 seats and is giving it to different youth
groups and charities for each game! He is such a good role model. Both
Jonny and Nick are really good guys and always take time for fans! I know they are going to have a great season this year!
How was your character created?
Miami Heat - Little Birdman - It started with a mohawk and i just wanted
to meet Chris (Birdman) Andersen again for a picture with the Mohawk
like his. Then the Media from the NBA Finals started taking a lot of
pictures of me and they were in all the newspapers the next day. So, the
next game, my Dad took me to a tattoo parlor and they wrote on me for 4
hours and made the same tattoos that birdman had. It became a real hit
with all of the tattoos. Shaq sent out a selfie with me and so did Mr.
Arison (Heat Owner) and other celebrities - it was a blast!
How important is it to you to have an Award Show for fans?
Sometimes the players or teams do show their appreciation for fans - fan
night or they say something in speeches. This really takes it to the
next level and lets everyone know about superfans - even out of their
area or out of their sport!
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
Winning would say that I did a great job cheering on my team! It would
be great and show other kids that they can get more involved and it
shows that the craziness and team spirit is appreciated!

Sports fans have been an important part of the explosive success both collegiate and professional athletics has enjoyed. In 2013 a recognition award show was created to honor fans and their contribution to the sports industry it's called the What A Fan Awards. Its been held in Orlando Florida but will be relocated to Los Angeles California in 2016. Over the coming weeks we're going to introduce you to some of the countries most devoted fans of all genres of sports in their own words.
How long have you been a fan?
Since 2004
Why should you be selected winner in this category?
Because her Love for the sport of football is truly genuine. Football has been one of the main things to break Mirandas shell of shyness and verbal delays. at theses games she excels she says words like touchdown , Voodoo, Larry "Beavers", Bernard "smith" she boos at the opposing teams She danced on the field with the Voodoo Dolls . People who know Miranda low how shelled u she is and this is just amazing what the love for a game can do to a little girls heart.
What triggered your passion for sports?
I guess it would be going to her 1st Voodoo game at 5 years old she's nada love for football since then.
Favorite sports moment?
Had to be at the Fan Fest this year before the season started when the players who were there came and danced to the wii games with her.
Who would you like to meet and why?
Well since you get to meet all the Voodoo players the next best thing would be Drew Brees. He is just the face of the Saints and she just absolutely adores him. We live 5 minutes from the truing facility and have yet got to meet him. we sat through long hours of waiting in line at training camp to catch a glimpse but we do not use the handicapped card so we got a hi like the res of the crowd at\and that was fine. She even has a cardboard cutout of hims he watches the games with.
What charitable programs are you involved with?
Well being a kid not a lot my mom n dad are involved in my school which relies a lot on donations so they do a lot there. Mom collects toys at work every year for a local Knight of Columbus Hall to give to children. She also did some toys to Pope Clown for his toy drive and her biggest was raising enough money for a child to be granted a wish for Make a Wish. She even got to come to Orlando to Give Kids the World.
How does your family feel about your passion for sports?
They love anything that gets me taking and motivated and makes me happy.
Describe to us why you love your team or player?
Miranda went to her first Voodoo game at the age of five we had free tickets from that time on every time we past the arena she would sign like she was trowing the ball. We went on and off since then missing all of last year . For Christmas she got a jersey and Season tickets and it was on. Being back in that arena and sitting on the wall, well oh my... When the opposing team walked past she booed them it was great . The real highlight started in the off season at the Fan Fest when Bernard Smith and talked to her and sat and ate with her. Then Larry Beavers came and dance with her for awhile other players did too but these two were special. Two months later we walked in that arena and they started waving to her as she waked down the steps and that was it. she has a vocabulary of about 50-75 words to that we have added Touchdown, Voodoo, Larry , Bernard , she knows people like Pope Clown and all the other fans and they know her. She danced on the field as a Baby doll. With the Voodoo Dolls and stole the show. She goes to the after parties the away game parties. We went to Tampa just to see them play. She is Miranda when it comes to football she rumbles on the floor at house in front the TV like she is tackling people and making plays she makes calls on the field she just supports and has a good time well everyone has a good time with her. At the end of the day she really just puts a smile on everyone's face in that arena from the players to the fans she brightens their day and that is what a true fan is that person that walks in the room and lights it up. I am probably not up to 500 words because i am writing this for her so its hard to do but in all actuality she has already won. Some one nominated her and rather she wins the contest or loses she has Won!!! She also has this super cool sidekick called Creepy Baby that has come to the games with us check them out. Thanks fro the opportunity and the memories. Because everyone she meets will always remember Mir anda and with that she has WON !!!!
How was your character created?
This week will be the first time I will be in character I am usually just a true fan. But I will be the Voodoo Princess . Mom thought it would be a cool idea to go with the costume to go with all the wonderful people we have met along the way a tribute to them and the team.
How important is it to you to have an Award Show for fans?
I think the award show is amazing it makes all the people who are out there supporting their teams that are just everyday Joes be somebody's HERO and that I think is important to be recognized for.
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
Winning for Miranda would be amazing it would honestly be more amazing for the people seeing her win that her. She would be so excited that she won but the expression on her face and the excitement you would see would be more for the audience and the judges because in Mirandas mind she is a Winner everyday.

Since 1997, I started traveling to the Miami Dolphins "away' games. I ended up at the same hotel as the team when the played the Rams, and since that time, I have traveled to EVERY away game the Dolphins have played. The staff of the Dolphins know me and provide me the hotel names of where the team will be staying in each city. I have flown to London twice to see my Dolphins play and will be flying over, again, this year to see them beat the Jets. I also, of course, am a season ticket holder for our home games. I attend training camp, and all opportunities to see the team at any sessions provided. The team has recognized me as their best fan with a trip to the Cayman Islands. Also, our local tv station came to my home to interview me and show the viewers my dedication to the team. The Dolphins also wrote an article on their Dolphins.com website about all my travels to their away games. The team recognizes me wherever I travel or at our home games. It's a great time when our quarterback knows me by name--along with our coaches and staff. I live, breathe and can endure anything as long as I can be part of the Miami Dolphins!!! I also update my Facebook page continually with Miami Dolphins news. People recognize me even in England from my Facebook updates. No matter what stadium, in another city/state, I enter, people are yelling out my name and asking to take a picture with me. Not because I wear a funny costume but because they are appreciative of all the updates I supply them--not for any monetary reason but only because of my love for this team.

Favorite sports moment?

My family fully supports my passion, so much that my mother attends every game with me. She, too, loves the Dolphins.
How was your character created?
I wear only a Dolphin's jersey to the games. I only wear Miami Dolphins shirts, everyday, as my wardrobe--I do not wear plain shirts.

We attended the Dolphins vs. the Jets game in East Rutherford, NJ Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012. We were to fly back to Ft. Lauderdale the next morning. Hurricane Sandy changed those plans. All flights were cancelled. Our team hotel (in Jersey City, NJ) had to evacuate everyone and notes were left under our hotel door, telling us that the tunnels to NYC would all be closed by 2:00 that day. It was now 12:00 when we found out. Not only did we need to evacuate, but the hotel also stated that there were no rooms remaining in NJ hotels. We went to the front desk and asked what should we do. They randomly called a hotel by Newark Airport and since all flights were cancelled, the flight crews would not be staying at their normal hotels. We got a room. The hotel car drove us to the Newark hotel and within one hour of our arrival, the electricity went off for three days! Hotel rooms, in the dark, with no hot running water and pitch black bathrooms were a new adventure. Plus, our cell phone batteries were on the very low end of their life. That next weekend, the Dolphins were to play in Indianapolis and we had our tickets, at home, for that game. We had our tickets FedEx'd to us at the hotel in Indianapolis. We were near the airport, so once some transportation started up again, and flights were starting to resume, we changed our flight from HELL to Indianapolis from Newark. We were wearing the same clothes when we finally flew out and the team arrived. The guys all enjoyed our story of how they were able to flight out on their charter flight but we were stuck, from one week to another, in a hotel with no electricity. and no clean clothes.
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
Winning this award would mean the world to me. It would show all my fellow fans and the team, how much I do love this team. I realize that they are aware of my devotion since I do have 5,000 followers on my Facebook page, where I update everyone on the latest Dolphins news. I update due to my dedication to this team. This award would be the ultimate recognition of all my efforts for my beloved Dolphins.

Saint Jester, What A Fan Awards Nominee
Meet Claude "Saint Jester" Brown, 2015 What A Fan Awards NFL Fan of the Year Nominee. The New Orleans Saints fan base is one of the most colorful, creative, flamboyant and outgoing group in all the NFL. Saint Jester is all of that and more. This devoted fan is active in many ways in and around is team as well as his compassion for his community. His character fits his character.
How long have you been a fan?
I have been a fan of the Saints since I was able to start understanding what footbal was all about. I would say 35 die hard years!
What triggered your passion for sports?
I grew up playing sports at the age of 7 years old. Little league baseball, peewee football, and biddy basketball were my 3 sports I played. I continued playing sports until I graduated high school!
Favorite sports moment?
The 2009-2010 NFL football season was definitely my favorite season of all time. This is when the Saints went 13-3 and was the number 1 seed in the playoffs. We rolled all the way through the playoffs to February 7th 2010 when the Saints did something a lot of people never thought that they would see in a lifetime. That was winning Superbowl 44 on February 7th 2010. I can remember this like yesterday and I will forever cherish this as my favorite moment in sports! WHO DAT!
Who would you like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Sean Payton because of what he has meant to the Fans and City of New Orleans since hurricane Katrina! He brought Faith, Hope, and Belief back to a city that was devastated by the worst storm in America's history. In 2006 he took a chance on a team that didn't even have a stadium to play in 2005. Sean Payton gave the city something to put a smile on everyone's face at their lowest point in life. He built a team with quarterback Drew Brees that was coming off of a shoulder injury. When no one else thought Drew would ever be the same, Sean Payton, took another chance and has proved why he is one of the best coaches in the NFL. I think any Saints fan would agree that Sean Payton has definitely brought the city and team back together for many enjoyable years! WHO DAT!
What charitable programs are you involved with?
I support HLH disease foundation because of a good friend of mine lost his nephew at the early age of 2 years old. He created a Facebook Group called The New Orleans Saints Nation in memory and to honor Cade. The 2 year old that lost his life to this horrible disease, Cade, nicknamed (Lil Brezzy) was a Saints fan also. He use to tell everybody that, "I Drew Brees", I'm honored to be an administrator and part of this great family group to raise awareness for HLH. I also do other charity events when asked to appear.
How does your family feel about your passion for sports?
My family know I am a loyal and die hard Saints fan. Sometimes they think I am a little extreme but never the less I have their full support on what I represent.
How was your character created?
It all started on Halloween night October 31st 2006. I wanted to represent my team and the city of New Orleans. I came up with the Black and Gold Jester costume and named my character Saint Jester! I would appear occasionally at Saints games dressed in costume. I have added, changed, and had my Jester costume remade recently. I was able to score rights to season tickets and attend all home games and some away games when possible. Saint Jester is now Trademarked and future merchandise will be sold to raise awareness for HLH. All proceeds donated to HLH disease foundation!
Share a humorous story with us?
Well besides the past 9 years, the Saints have never been what we all expected and hoped for. I know everyone remembers when people would call us the aint's! Although it's not funny to a die hard fan, a lot of people find humor in the term aint's instead of Saints. I always been a die hard fan even in the rough years of the franchise, that's why I don't find humor in it, but I'm a good sport when other teams still call us that. We also have many sayings and slogans from past years and unroll present. Some of them would be: Bless you Boys, Believe, Faith, Cha Ching, Woomp there it is, and of course my favorite and the most known of all WHO DAT!
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
I am already honored that I have been selected as a nominee. I never even dreamed of or thought I would ever be a part of such a great organization. If I was to win the Whatafan Award I would be so proud to represent Louisiana, New Orleans, and my beloved Saints! I am always humbled and would represent Whatafan with nothing but honor, and respect. I thank you for this once in a lifetime recognition and honor for what I do year around for the love of my team! WHO DAT!

I'll never forget my PFUFA (Pro Football's Ultimate Fan Assoc) induction speech in Canton, OH. I stepped up the podium and pulled a George Lopez on the attendees. I started speaking Spanish and everyone was in complete Stunned form, eyes wide open and not a clue of what I had said. Then I reached down under podium, and pretended to hit a switch and started speaking English. I would then reach down to switch back to Spanish, and back to English. I had everyone rolling. It was classic. after a bit of that, I started my own version of Super fan Roasting. It was a classic speech, undrafted, all at the microphone moment.
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
This is my 2nd attempt at it. It would mean the "MUNDO" to me. (World) I have come a long way from the small city of El Paso, TX to becoming a Buffalo Bills fan. Who would have thought that a young Hispanic boy from the crazy lower valley streets of El Paso would be so in love with a team hundreds of miles away. (the logo got me) I don't know if this would apply but It too would be an HUGE honor to be the 1st NFL Hispanic Award recipient. We are all one. We are all family.

How long have you been a fan?
From the Womb to the Tomb (Bills fan since 1986).
What triggered your passion for sports?
My Dad... He loved football. Of the 4 sons he had, I was the only one to play football at a young age. Started at age 7. I know it him happy to support me, so I kept at it and fell in love with the sport!
Favorite sports moment?
(Non Football related) But, I'm also a huge San Antonio Spurs fan. When the Spurs won their 5th Title on Fathers Day in 2014. It was special to celebrate it with my only child, son, Ginobili E. Castro "Gino"...yes named after Manu Ginobili. For me and his mom to celebrate it together was an emotional wreck.
Who would you like to meet and why?
I would have loved to meet Mr. Ralph Wilson, founder of the Buffalo Bills in 1960. What passion the man had for the game. All his efforts and time given. Everyone can always use that motivation from someone like him.
What charitable programs are you involved with?
As of today, the only charitable work I'm involved with is with the PFUFA organization, which I became a member in 2011. Every year we visit the J. Babe Stern Community Center in Canton, OH, to support and provide under privileged children with school supplies and goodies to help their families out. We are full characterized and it bring such joy to the kiddos. I do assist friends with $$ donations to specifics charities when in need and the funds are there. I do what I can, when I can. I too am a STRONG Supporter for the FANS AGAINST CHILD ABUSE campaign.

My family is very supportive. They think I'm Crazyyyyyy. They love to tell their friends about my get up. I usually provide my trading card to them for them. (signed) My family has traveled with me as well. All super fans are family.
How was your character created?
I'm Hispanic. My mask come from the "Lucha aka Wrestling back ground. My Sombrero come from the vocal singers/group, Mariachi's. My Pancho is a added touch to the Hispanic picture. Its what we wear. Custom jeans with words "VIVA LOS BILLS" which is my get up phrase. and of course the custom boots to add the awesome touch. I recently added a Carrilla. Which is a chest holster and arm bands. In hopes to give me that extra "Crazy Hispanic Bills Fan Look"
Tell us a humorous story?

Tell us a humorous story about yourself or team?
Running into players and other fans outside the games when I'm out of costume the first time is always fun, because I will talk about the Gladiators a lot and ask if they know the crazy guy in the end zone dressed up as a gladiator. Then I see if they figure out in him.
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
It would mean a lot to me. I do this out of my love for my city & my team. I was raised to root for the name on the front of the jersey, and I know Cleveland gets to be the butt of a lot of people's jokes, but we're a great city by a great lake full of hard working great people. Winning a WHAT A FAN award being a kid from the Cleveland area would mean to me, that, we may not have won a championship in a LONG LONG while, but, we NEVER GIVE UP ON OUR CITY, & OUR TEAM!

JagSuitVille, What A Fan Awards Nominee
Meet Chris "JagSuitVille" Glennon, 2015 What A Fan Awards NFL Fan of the Year Nominee. Chris and his brother, Kevin, are huge Jacksonville Jaguars fans and two very stylish looking fans as well. If we were going to start a best dressed category they'd definitely be in the running.
Sports fans have been an important part of the explosive success both collegiate and professional athletics has enjoyed. In 2013 a recognition award show was created to honor fans and their contribution to the sports industry it's called the What A Fan Awards. How long have you been a fan?
Since 1995
What triggered your passion for sports?
We grew up playing sports, never stopped loving to watch.
Favorite sports moment?
My brother and I wearing our "Jag" suits for the first time and realizing that the masses loved it once we made our first appearance on the worlds largest scoreboards.
Who would you like to meet and why?
Shaquille O'Neal
What charitable programs are you involved with?
Currently not officially involved with any, however we do heavily support Breast Cancer Awareness and we enjoyed taking pictures with the Play 60 kids. Our Mom is a Breast Cancer Survivor and that's how the whole JagSuitVille bit was started.
How does your family feel about your passion for sports?
Full Support from Family, Friends and practically everyone we meet.
How did you select your outfit?
Sitting with my family and trying to come up with something unique, and hey, who doesn't love a Jaguar print three piece suit.
Tell us a humorous story?
The first game that we went to dawning the Jag suits, we didn't realize that we needed to cut the stitching on the tailored suits for ventilation and it was insanely hot. We went most of that game sweating so bad and drinking water trying to figure out why the heck we couldn't cool down. Finally a more style savvy fan came over and told us that we forgot to cut the stitching in the coat tail flap. We got them cut and low and behold the ventilation began. We owe that guy a beer if he's out there!
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
It would be the crown jewel in a well decorated run of fun. We do it to for the fun, fans and our city. Jacksonville needs to be shown some love and we're here to do it!

Romeo Santos, What A Fan Awards Nominee
Meet Romeo Santos, 2015 What A Fan Awards MLB Fan of the Year Nominee. Romeo is truly a lover, a lover of his Baltimore Orioles that is. He is one amazing baseball fan and we here one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, as told to us by an opposing fan. When fans of other teams or sports are pointing you in the direction of a fan we figure they've got to be pretty special. Romeo is that and then some.
Since the day I was born. I remember watching a game on TV when I was little. Every time the Orioles scored you could hear the crowd at Camden Yards. There would be a delay on the TV so if you could hear the roar from the crowd you knew what happened next. My very first job was selling lemonade in the stands when I was 15 years old. I plan on make a job at the ballpark my last when I retire from the military.
What triggered your passion for sports?
I grew up down the street from Oriole Park at Camden Yards. I have always been a die hard fan but it wasn't until I returned from deployment in Kuwait back in 2006 that I really began to become a Super Fan. Unfortunately my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after our wedding in 2007. Orioles Baseball then became more to than just a game. It turned into my outlet for dealing with my sick wife. It kept me sane in the middle of an insane time. It gave me something to take my mind off of her suffering and be that rock that she needed.
Favorite sports moment?
As a child growing up in the shadow of Camden Yards I emulated Cal Ripken Jr. Watching him break the 2130 record of consecutive games will always be a highlight of my life.
Who would you like to meet and why?
I would love to toss a ball around with Cal Ripken Jr. He was my roll model growing up. I consider myself as the "Cal Ripken" of breast cancer husbands because I never missed any of my wife's cancer treatments in four years.
What charitable programs are you involved with?
My wife was a big supporter of the Maryland SPCA. She led a volunteer group that fundraised for them. After she passed in 2011 I took over and continue to lead her team. I use the Orioles High Five Fundraising program to bring friends and family to the ballpark and raise a ton of money for charity. The MDSPCA isn't the only charity that I have supported. I have also worked with the Gold Star Mothers, the Humane Society, several Military charities, and cancer charities. With the support of my friends and family we have raised over $75,000 for these charities. Using my love for Orioles baseball to do some good is a passion of mine.
How does your family feel about your passion for sports?
My family is extremely supportive of my fandom. I bring about 250 to a ballgame once a month and most of them are my family. I recently had a son with my girlfriend. His name is Camden, after the ballpark that forever changed baseball.
How was your character created?
I don’t know how it started but for the last 7 years I have been wearing an orange construction helmet with a feathered O’hawk. I call it my “Boog Powell” helmet because the only person allowed to sign it is the big 1970 American League MVP. All the players, ushers, and fans know me for my feathered helmet. After showing fans how to catch a fly ball during batting practice and how to catch a player’s attention for an autograph, I usually go hang out with Boog and have him sign my helmet again. I love listening to his stories about 60’s and 70’s baseball. He signs it so many times each season that I have to make a new one every year.
Tell us a humorous story?
Just recently the Baltimore Orioles played to an empty ballpark. It was a day game that I had to make it to. It was scheduled at the last minute and I didn't have time to properly request off of work so I took a half day without letting my supervisor know. I couldn't miss that historic event. I was one a few fans that got there to cheer on the Birds from the center field gates. It was absolutely amazing. Chris Davis belted a 3 run shot on Eutaw Street and I went nuts. The cameras zoomed in on us and just like that, I was busted! Everyone who was watching the game on TV tagged me in a post on Facebook. My boss saw it and I got an earfull the next day at work. It was worth it! Check it out.
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
Winning a What a Fan Award would mean so much to me. Every one of the hundreds of Orioles games that I have been to they say that they have the "Best fans in baseball." I want to represent these fans. Winning this award would prove that the Orioles have the best fans in baseball. It is an absolute honor to even be recognized and nominated for this award.

Watching Scobee kick the winning field goal against the Colts and Peyton Manning.... Happiest moment of my life!!! after seeing my kids being born of course.
Who would you like to meet and why?
Will Blackmon. He used to play for us but ended up playing for the Seahawks this year. He actually bought me a pair of under Armour cleats that were custom with Batman because I rocked his jersey and repped so hard for him and our team. He is an awesome guy. Would love to meet and hang with him.
What charitable programs are you involved with?
I am big in the Bold City Brigade. We organized clothing and food drives for homeless shelters in Jax as well as do auctions and raffles for the Bosseli Foundation here in Jax.
How does your family feel about your passion for sports?
They think I am Goofy for doing it but they support me and have a good time with me. Winning would prove I WAS RIGHT! ahahahah
How was your character created?
My dad was a huge Batman and Jags fan so growing up I was taught that there is only ONE super hero.... BATMAN! And Being as our team has not been doing so well in the past few years it was evident that our team, our CITY needed a hero... THE BOLD CITY BATMAN was formed!!! And I know what your thinking... My mask is movie quality...
Share a humorous story with us?
We went to Washington last year for the Jag vs. Redskin game and upon heading to my seat I came into contact with a Redskin fan dressed as BANE! lol It was funny because everyone watched and laughed and then died when we went into a Rock Paper Scissor battle. bahahahah
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
Winning would help me spread the word that The Jags have some of the most dedicated fans! Through THICK and THIN we are with our team! No matter what... Plus it'd be pretty cool to brag lol

How long have you been a fan?
Since the franchise was first opened in 95'
Why should you be selected winner in this category?
I am a very passionate fan. Through thick and thin I am there with my team. I travel to all away games (When my work and wallet agrees) I accompany my team to the draft every year to ensure that our new draftee's are kept safe (Batman don't play about his players) And over all I am in the North Endzone and its super HOT! Takes a true fan to with stand that type of Florida heat in a Batman mask!

Seahawk Rooster, What A Fan Awards Nominee
Nicholas "Seahawk Rooster" Goins, 2015 What A Fan Awards NFL Fan of the Year Nominee. Known as the Seahawks self proclaimed, weapon of mass disruption, his outstanding character is a crowd favorite. His devotion is infectious, his personal mission is about unity among the 12th Man on and off the field. We love his inclusive spirit and outrageous public presence.

How long have you been a fan?
August 2, 1976 - "To Infinity and Beyond"
Why should you be selected winner in this category?
Feel I have played a very large roll in the current Guinness World Record held by the 12th Man at Seahawks Stadium, have been selected as the 'Most Spirited Fan" in Seattle, Supercharged Seahawks Fan,
What triggered your passion for sports?
Laying down in front of the TV on Sunday mornings (when we could) and afternoons with family (where we all had our teams back in the day), then came Monday Night Football . . . . . All my life I've been a fan! There is no other sport like football!
Favorite sports moment?
August 2, 1976 when the Seahawks became an official NFL Team!
Who would you like to meet and why?
Bo Jackson, because not only was he the baddest man on the field with the most talent and potential (a true superstar in all aspects of the word), but he did not let his injury get him down. He has shown me great leadership after his fall from fame and proven to me that he takes more pride in being a father than all other sports persons I've ever read about. That's leadership and greatness!
What charitable programs are you involved with?
MDA, ADA, Toys for Tots,
How does your family feel about your passion for sports?
My wife has graced me with patience and great support, and my son is all in!
How was your character created?
I was inspired by the folks who came up with a team game day character (those who lined the walls of the endzone during a game). When out team took possession of out new stadium back in 2003, I found myself mostly the only one up and cheering and the other teams had a greater fan presence (this is where I made up my character title The Seahawk Rooster - first to cheer and support and loudest contributor). I wanted nothing to do with that situation of lacking support for the team so I have been on a march to challenge and dare any and all to be louder them me every game since. It's all about righting the ship to 'Greatness' since then. Now I want more than anything to bring all the fans together to perform at a level equal to out own team - and preach "Give It All You Got! This will make their contributions to the game, legendary!

Each and every time accusations are made here in our city of piping in crowd noise, my image is used in the local paper to assist in dispelling the notion/accusation!
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
Stamp on leadership for the 12's. Give me more notice for the fans so I can bring them closer together. Would be an impactful event I need to get the media on my side in this town.

Grateful Duck, What A Fan Awards Nominee
Meet John David "Grateful Duck" Free, 2015 What A Fan Awards NCAA Fan of the Year Nominee. Oregon Duck fans are truly fanatical about their team, this gentleman is no different. Passion seems to run in the family and is being past on generation after generation. We admire the devotion this fan has for his Ducks and appreciation for sharing with loved ones, developing new supportive and committed fans for years to come.

How long have you been a fan?
48 years.
Why should you be selected winner in this category?
Simple, we represent Oregon Ducks with class, home and away. We attend all venues in our Oregon Duck Fan attire. We ride custom Oregon Duck Scooters at all the home football games and greet the opposing fans with "thank you for coming to Oregon, Go Football". We meet fans on away travels all over the USA. We support the all sports but especially the football program. Our goal is to put smiles on faces and leave a friend. Great Fans make for a great experience.
What triggered your passion for sports?
Have always had sports as part of our lives. Me growing up in Oregon and the wife growing up in Iowa. Every opportunity we had we participated. As life directed our paths to join society it became harder and harder to participate but the support was still there. Support became a passion. We have always supported the underdog and for years the Ducks were truly that. But like they say "every Duck has it's day" and now we are the King of the Duck Pond.
Favorite sports moment?
Auburn ball boy turns on jets. I was flabbergasted watching him run with Auburns speedy Wide Receiver.
Who would you like to meet and why?
Dinner with Phil Knight - One, for a great dinner, second to rub shoulders with the self made legend that not only dedicated himself to changing the look of football but to support the education of our future students to levels that no other can comprehend. Any maybe I can get to go up in the box area once in awhile and show off our goods.
What charitable programs are you involved with?
"Santa's Hidden Kids" It's a foundation we stated some 20 years ago for all the kids lost on Xmas eve.
How does your family feel about your passion for sports?
As all normal kids, we embarrassed them at first and now that they are adult they share our enthusiasm with support. They like being part of the Hype. As would have it, we have a new generation of "Grateful Ducks" arising in our Grand daughter. Watch out!!
How was your character created?
I don't consider what I wear a costume, it is a uniform. I Love the Ducks, the Grateful Dead and was raised in the 60's. What a better way to pay tribute to all things associated with Autzen Stadium. If you were to visit Eugene, OR you would find a community that takes life in stride.
Share a humorous story with us about you or your team?
Using our attire is the self made humor we strive to accomplish. Grateful Duck wears contact lens that are green and yellow. People are constantly asking for their photo with us and when they get close they have an extremely hard time looking him in the eyes. I think our favorite is when the team goes by they loose the tough guy image and have to laugh. Mission accomplished ..... a smile.
What would winning the What A Fan Awards mean to you?
Winning the "What A Fan Award" would be the epitome of recognition. Then we can truly say "we lead by example". It's hard to imagine what avenues this would open up to help express the real meaning of "Fan". In our travels we experience so many descriptions of "Fan". There is so much more to it than supporting your team to the end, at all cost. Let the competition be performed on the playing field and let the fans have great time.
